Meet the Team

  • Alika lives on Lummi Island and grew up in the Puget Sound region. A dedicated naturalist, Alika brings to the Trust an in depth knowledge of native flora, a commitment to conservation, and a deep appreciation for the communities and traditions of Lummi Island. Alika will be drawing on a professional background that includes historic collections management and curation, teaching, arboriculture and horticulture, native plant stewardship, and publicity. Alika is honored to contribute to LIHT’s mission of land preservation and protection.

  • Rianna was raised on Lummi Island and moved back with her family so her kids could attend Beach School and experience the same magical childhood.  Rianna brings a wealth of financial management, office management and HR experience gained in a range of positions in New York, Seattle and elsewhere to the Trust.  She and her family are lovers of all things outdoors, especially on the water and fully embrace island life.  She serves on the board of the Beach School PTO and is an active volunteer.  She is committed to this special community and proud to support LIHT’s mission to preserve these lands for this generation and generations to come.

  • Skylar's conservation journey began as a Youth Conservation Corps member with a Land Trust in Northern New Mexico. During this experience, he contributed to trail maintenance, invasive species control, and GIS data collection, laying the foundation for his career in environmental stewardship. Skylar’s commitment to conservation led him to Western Washington University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Sustainability and GIS.

Throughout his undergraduate studies, Skylar engaged in various GIS projects focused on land use, environmental planning, and equitable community development. These projects honed his skills in leveraging GIS to tackle complex sustainability challenges and support informed decision-making.

Skylar views the world from a bird's-eye view, a skill he applies by using GIS technology to create, analyze, and develop web maps and applications that assist conservation efforts. His work is driven by a commitment to blending technology with stewardship.

When he’s not in the field or working on GIS projects, Skylar enjoys exploring the North Cascades and surrounding areas through hiking, biking, skiing, and fly fishing.

  • Emma grew up on Lummi Island, where as a child she spent countless days running around the Otto and Curry preserves with her two sisters. Emma brings to the Trust extensive experience in sustainability consulting and non-profit management, including several years as Chair of the working board of the Lummi Island Foundation for Education (LIFE).

Most recently, Emma completed a second masters degree in business at the Yale School of Management, where she enjoyed exploring the potential for inclusive environmental and economic develompent through concepts like regenerative agriculture and sustainable food systems. She looks forward to using her passion for community engagement and outreach to serve the island community and land that raised her.
